James Licklider has served as Administrative Director since January 2012. He oversees finance, governance, strategic planning, and programmatic initiatives for the Institute and its nine labs. James supervises the Institute staff.
Prior to the Institute, James managed the post-award operation for the Florida State University (FSU) College of Medicine and guided its faculty practice plan as Chief Financial Officer. He also held roles in central post-award administration at FSU, pre-award and department administration at DePaul University, and executive management in several Chicago nonprofits.
James completed TERA2.0 Training Excellence in Research Administration in 2014 and the Executive Program for Emerging Leaders at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2012. He has been a Certified Research Administrator since 2007, and a member of NCURA since 2008. James earned master of science degrees in accountancy (2006) and public services management (2001) at DePaul University.
James lives with his wife Camille and two sons in Wrigleyville. He enjoys golf, running, and reading when he’s not at the office.
